Transforming Air Security: Introducing SENTRY
Today's tools cannot monitor large open spaces for airborne threats. SENTRY solves this by delivering real-time, non-intrusive AI detection to protect public spaces and critical infrastructure from explosive and chemical hazards.

Traditional security checks rely on physical touch, baggage scanners, or trained canine units. Methods that struggle to monitor wide, open crowds for airborne chemical threats without bringing foot traffic to a crawl.
SENTRY (Sensitive Early Non-intrusive Threat Recognition sYstem) shifts security from reactive screening to proactive early detection. Supported by the EU’s CITADEL program, this initiative unites deep-tech AI developer Ezako, security operator SECURIA, and detector manufacturer MION.
Smarter Detection, Safer Public Spaces
SENTRY integrates MION’s high-sensitivity VPSCAN vapour detector with EZAKO’s UPALGO edge-based AI workflow. By analyzing chemical signatures in real time, the system turns raw sensor signals into immediate actionable alerts.
- 30-Meter Standoff Capability: Boosts detection sensitivity by a factor of 1,000, enabling the system to spot trace explosive threats up to 30 meters away.
- Precision AI Analysis: Separates harmless environmental noise from true threat signatures, cutting false alarms from under 5% to below 1%.
- Non-Intrusive Protection: Monitors ambient air continuously without stopping individuals, scanning bags, or processing personal data.
The Project has received financial support from the European Union under the CITADEL Project, Grant Agreement No. 101235136.
